Frequently Asked Questions

What is collected upon intake?

Prior to your appointment, you will be asked to complete and/or update an intake form. Please use this opportunity to share any and all goals/objectives you wish to have addressed during your session.

A detailed intake and signed consent form ensures that you and your therapist are fully informed and able to provide the best care for your unique needs. Sharing clear insight into what your definition of success is and what limitations stand in your way unlocks the potential for your LMT to truly support your unique goals through objective-oriented bodywork.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

    • Prior to treatment your therapist will review your goals for the session and any contraindications/modifications needed to ensure your safety whilst achieving the best results. Communication is key! If anything was missed during intake, please share with your therapist any modifications to the information provided upon intake.
    • Upon gaining agreement that the LMT is fully informed and has your consent to continue care, you will be left to undress to your level of comfort then lay down under the top sheet and blanket provided.
    • Clients must remain under sheet the entirety of the session. No exceptions. Only the portion of the body receiving bodywork will be exposed at any given time.
    • Your therapist will knock and request access to the room. If you are comfortable and covered, please issue audible permission to enter the space.
    • It is common for the therapist to inquire about your preferences for pressure (turn it up/down) and overall comfort. Your time on the table may also include educational instruction (stretching, feedback about findings during the session, recommendations/referrals, etc.).
    • Upon completion, your therapist will request that you take your time getting up. Some patients feel light headed and/or disoriented if they get up too fast. Please, take your time!

What is objective oriented therapeutic bodywork?

  • Great question! Basically, we have a chat about your goals, and we get after the musculoskeletal components that contribute to your success(es).
  • The most valuable tool you have in your personal wellness journey is your truth. Sharing clear insight into what your definition of success is and what limitations stand in your way unlocks the potential for your LMT to truly support your unique goals through objective-oriented bodywork.
  • 60 minute sessions traditionally allow enough time for 1-2 focus areas to be thoroughly addressed. A longer duration is highly suggested if more than 1-2 issues are present.
  • Objective-Based Massage involves a great deal of assessment & reassessment throughout the session to ensure progress is measurable/quantifiable.

What if I'm late?

  • Your appointment starts and ends promptly within the window booked in consideration for other clients.
  • We do our best to accommodate late arrivals (life happens), but if schedule does not allow flexibility, your therapist reserves the right to reduce the amount of hands-on time.

What if I need to cancel/reschedule?

  • 48 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Failure to cancel appointments at least 48 hours in advance or failure to show up for your appointment will result in a charge of 100% of the scheduled appointment fee which will be processed on the credit card retained on file to reserve appointment.
  • Refunds for services cancelled more than 48 hours in advance might incur a processing fee (not to exceed 7% of eligible refund) to cover fees incurred by payment processors.
  • Agile Bodywork LLC has a no refund policy on services completed.

  • Dehydration after massage has been known to trigger headaches and sometimes even nausea or other unsavory ailments.

How often should I book bodywork?

  • There are loads of factors that contribute to an honest answer to this question:
    • Severity of presenting issue(s)
    • Duration of aiment(s)
    • Lifestyle
    • Other Support/Initiatives

  • Many chronic conditions could warrant weekly or bi-weekly treatment at first with the goal of tapering down to less frequent visits for maintenance.
